There may seem to be a lot of negatives there but a lot of it is correctable by coaching and hard work... He has the size, strength and speed that you will look for in a corner and when you add play-making ability it makes it more intriguing...
He looks the part and if he can stay consistent then there is no reason to doubt him... The transition from NCAA to NFL is usually hardest for corners, and I expect he will draw some flags early in his career, but he'll soon get up to speed... He has a very promising future, and it wouldn't surprise me if he was going to a pro-bowl in the first year or two of his career...
After reviewing Justin Gilbert it's hard to not come away thinking two things:
1) he could be one of the 20 best athletes in the NFL the minute he steps on a field...
2) he's got a long way to go if he's going to become one of the top cover corners in the league...
There is one comparison I keep reading... That comparison is Antonio Cromartie which isn't far fetched but almost identical to tee... An incredibly gifted athlete who struggled with portions of the physical part of the game... He showed flashes of high-level coverage ability, and played consistently for stretches of time... But he struggled with his footwork, particularly his back pedal, in his early years...
His athleticism helps him recover, even though it takes a while for him to do so, and he ends up slamming the receiver to the ground...
Justin's athleticism in particular his speed, agility and strength which makes him such a tantalizing prospect... At the risk of getting too subjective, it almost seems like his mindset has always been on playing on the offensive side of the ball...
Currently ranked 1st Round Prospect but his stock is all over the first round...
Like mentioned above he is compared to Cromartie the type of CB the Jets should tandem with the more physical presence of Dee Milliner... Will give us options on matching up against opponents receivers...
