New York Jets - 2014 Free Agent Targets

CB Sam Shields - man press cover corner should be target number one, if the team makes a move to trade Cromartie they need an immediate replacement and Shields a former WR at the University of Miami would be the compliment to what this team needs...

With the possible release of Santonio Holmes the Jets will likely incline to sign a veteran free agent and then possibly make a move within the draft for one or two more... In this case there are plenty of top tiered receivers like Hakeem Nicks, Eric Decker and Jacoby Jones... Lets look at a real underrated receiver, Emanuel Sanders from the Steelers... Sanders like Holmes is a dynamic receiver working in short area space with quickness and has the ability to stretch the field being a vertical threat... Sanders will also be a viable option in the return game...

Both Jeff Cumberland & Kellen Winslow Jr. will be free agents... Both are unlikely to return, so are there any in free agent that can improve our lack luster tight end core... A receiver like tight end Anthony McCoy could be a prime target... Sign him to a 1 year deal...

Plenty of speculation surrounding what will happen with Mike Goodson... Anyway the Jets might be inclined to sign a RB in free agency and Jonathan Dwyer could be a solid addition...

Austin Howard, and Willie Colon aren't likely to stick around next year as both have been sub par and could be replaced in the draft or through free agency... As the team needs to stabilize this situation a.s.a.p., free agency seems like the way to go... Bruce Campbell could be a target at right tackle while trying to get the eye on the prize at right guard by signing Jon Asamoah...

Again if the Jets do indeed trade Harris at middle LB they could draft someone like Andrew Jackson from WKU or sign a free agent like Donald Butler or Brandon Spikes which way they choose would definitely give the front 7 a major boost in both the run defense & stabilize the pass coverage...

Depth along the defensive line moving forward is also concern, player(s) like Corey Peters, Terrance Cody could be considered as targets...
